Did anyone else see the This Morning show recently where Philip Schofield had to guess what the strange items were used for? It was really funny to see people with the odd looking bit of plastic trying to guess what on earth it was. It turned out not to be a sun visor or potty, as was guessed, but to be a device to keep water from baby’s eyes at bath time! It was called the Lil Rinser, I wonder how good it is? They all seemed to love it and I must admit if it is anywhere near as good as they say I have to get one. We have a little person at home who hates bath time because of the water in his eyes. I've tried several products on the market for just such problems, but none have done what they say on the tin. I can’t for the life of me remember what I did with my 2 older children, guess they just cried till they got old enough to not worry about it! Still we all indulge this new little person so I will see if I can find one to test drive and let you know how it goes!

Talking of unique baby gifts we are adding a new one to this site soon. It’s a really cute elephant in pink or blue with a hanging wooden heart that will have baby's name, date of birth and time etc on. These make perfect gifts for boys or gifts for girls and are a lovely decoration for a baby’s room.

A friend had recently decided to have her twins Christened but commented that she "hoped she didnt get 7 money boxes again!"  One further enquiry it turns out a fair amount of guests had gone to a local store and all purchased the same plain money box to give as a gift!  I asked if any one of them had been engraved and she said no which was a shame as that would have been nice if they had been.

So it goes to show how little choice there is for people to buy in the general high street shops when invited to a Christening.  This is of course where the online retailers come in to their own.  Able to offer a lot more variety and with that added bonus of the items being made personal to the recipient.

Of course we do sell silver money boxes that you can have engraved, but there are so many more gifts on offer too that you are very unlikely to be giving a duplicate gift if you shop on line.  Even if two people do send a money box the engraved messages would never be the same making them both unique and a real treasured gift.  It is still traditional to give a silver gift at a Christening but I think now it is fully accepted to give any gift at all, after all its the thought that counts and nothing will show thought more than giving  personalised Christening gifts.

Our tooth fairy cushions have proven a very popular choice as a personal gift that wont break the bank and is also a useful gift too.  All children love a cuddle toy so out range of bears and dogs with cute little jumpers make a popular choice too, add a name date even venue to the jumper and you have a lovely keepsake and a childs new best friend in the making too.

So unless you have left you gift choice till the day of the Christening, in which case you may end up with the bog standard money box, think out side of the box.  Gifts dont have to be silver now, those are usually left to the God Parents to buy, so think of a gift that could be fun, loved or useful but that still shows just how much thought you put into it with the personal message that goes with a Personalised Christening gift.
